Overplus, previously known as Overwolf, offers various features, including a cosmetic and interface changer. However, it is the tool’s “pick stage analyzer” that has sparked outrage. By scraping player information, Overplus provides users with valuable insights during the draft phase, allowing them to plan and counter opponents before the game even begins.
Many players have likened the use of Overplus to cheating, as it goes beyond the capabilities of a regular player. It reveals a player’s preferred hero pool, most used items, and skill builds, giving an unfair advantage to those using the tool.
Notable Dota 2 personalities, such as Jonathan “Loda” Berg and popular streamer Gorgc, have voiced their concerns and called for Valve to intervene. Loda described Overplus as a “serious problem” and emphasized the need for a ban. Gorgc highlighted the unfairness in Immortal drafts, where players can access information about smurfs, account buyers, and previous games.
Similar third-party apps have emerged in other games like League of Legends, offering various capabilities that are considered cheating. However, Valve has remained silent on the issue, leaving Dota 2 players frustrated and urging developers to take action against both the players using Overplus and the tool itself.
