One of the most talked-about stories from the 2023 VALORANT Game Changers circuit was the disqualification of Noot Noot, a rising team that eliminated popular content creator Disguised Toast’s squad. After months of investigation, Riot has finally revealed its ruling: malibu has been permanently banned from all Riot-sanctioned competitions, while Summertime faces a one-year ban.

The official competitive ruling, published on the VALORANT esports website, outlines the extent of malibu and Summertime’s violations. Malibu’s ban is particularly severe due to her previous circumvention of a hardware ban imposed by Riot’s Anti-Cheat team. Additionally, she provided false information during the Game Changer’s verification process, including an AI-generated profile photo. Summertime assisted in providing this false information.

Following their disqualification, both players deactivated their social media accounts. However, teammate Allison “xann” Angel commented on Riot’s ruling, highlighting the focus on the verification process circumvention. While some argue that the players were not cheating in-game, others point out that lying during the verification process is still a form of cheating.

Although the players are now facing consequences for their actions, Noot Noot’s disqualification from the Game Changers event came just one match too late for their opponents. A member of Noot Noot was found to have violated a competitive rule in a previous match against Complexity GX3. Disguised Toast’s squad, which included several talented Game Changers players, was knocked out by Noot Noot in their match just one day earlier.

Disguised Toast’s VALORANT squad will not be competing in Game Changers in 2024. Instead, they will reportedly be seeking a new home in the Asia-Pacific region.
