The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) has kicked off its first week of competition, but fans are not happy with a major change that was made without any prior announcement. The official multi-stream option for watching the ALGS, known as Command Center (CC), has silently transitioned from Twitch to FACEIT, leaving many viewers confused.

CC was a popular feature on Twitch that allowed fans to spectate up to four different team perspectives alongside the main broadcast. It also provided an updated map and stats stream for each game. However, with the move to FACEIT, CC has disappeared entirely, causing significant issues for viewers.
The platform transition has been plagued by problems, including heavy lag during the EMEA broadcast, difficulties in loading multiple stream perspectives, and sound issues that prevented viewers from hearing team communications. These issues have led to numerous complaints and raised questions about the decision to switch platforms.
One of the main draws of CC was the ability to listen in to team communications, providing valuable insight for players and teams. However, this feature has been compromised with the platform change, as only game audio is being broadcasted without team communications.
Furthermore, viewers now need to sign in or create a FACEIT account to access CC, raising concerns about possible future paywalls. In contrast, Twitch viewers could use CC as guests without the need for an account.
The absence of CC from Twitch and the lack of communication from Respawn or EA about the platform switch have resulted in a significant decrease in viewership for the opening day of the 2024 ALGS. According to Esports Charts, day one viewership saw a 30% decrease compared to the previous year’s Split One peak.
Esports Wiz has reached out to Respawn Entertainment for a comment on the changes but has not received a response at the time of publishing.
