Moist Esports Faces Visa Setback: Forced to Compete in Canada

In a recent livestream, MoistCr1tikal, owner of Moist Esports, expressed frustration with the U.S. visa application process. The Apex Legends team had their visa applications declined, resulting in the team being forced to play in Canada for several months to compete in the ALGS.

MoistCr1tikal revealed that the original plan to move the team to Florida had to be put on hold due to the challenging visa application process. He described the process as ‘cringe’ and criticized the visa agent assigned to them, stating that the agent had no understanding of esports and was a ‘relic of the past’.

According to MoistCr1tikal, other esports teams have faced similar issues with their visa applications, but were able to resolve them. Unfortunately, Moist Esports had their visas outright declined. The team now finds themselves in Canada, restarting the visa application process from scratch.

MoistCr1tikal highlighted that the visa agent didn’t believe in the team’s global success, despite their consistent top 10 finishes in global tournaments. Moist Esports is also one of EA’s partnered teams for Year Four. The frustration escalated when MoistCr1tikal received a message in his livestream chat suggesting monetary bribes as a solution. He sarcastically remarked that the visa agent was too old to even understand the concept of a bribe.

Moist Esports, co-owned by MoistCr1tikal, Ludwig, and SuperSpicyMatt, originally signed the Australian free-agent Apex Legends team known as ‘Team Burger’ in September 2022. The team’s strong performance in the ALGS Championship prompted their signing. However, new opportunities led the team to move to the North American region for ALGS Year Four.

With the ALGS Pro League set to begin on January 20, Moist Esports now faces the challenge of adjusting to the cold Canadian climate. The team will be unable to utilize Moist Esports facilities to prepare for the upcoming ALGS Split One.

Despite the setback, Moist Esports remains determined to succeed in the ALGS and showcase their skills on a global stage. The team’s resilience and dedication will be put to the test as they adapt to their new temporary home in Canada.
